Leif was employed by Coop Sweden, Sweden’s second largest Retail organisation, as Manager responsible for a number of " Business Account Managers", each working with and for one of the core business functions (Store-IT, Distribution and Logistics, Category Management, Marketing and HR).

These Account Managers were responsible for all the systems that supported their business function. Their mission, as members of the business steering group for their function, was to evaluate likely IT consequences of new technology-based ideas and topics relevant to the function. They were also expected to create new visions for IT, in order to drive revenues, reduce costs or increase profitability.

Leif was also responsible for negotiating agreements with Coop’s major software suppliers, also being the business contact for the suppliers.

Throughout his time at Coop Sweden, Leif was part of the executive management team of Coop Sweden’s IT department.

Major projects undertaken during Leif’s time at Coop Sweden:

CRS, a new system for Category Management, which went live in February ‘04 and which is based on Lawson Software’s Merchandise Management System. A heavy project where integration with old systems became very much a focus and success factor.

THA, a Warehouse Management System, now being rolled out one warehouse at the time. The technology platform was EXE Technology’s software Exceed4000.

Rollout of a new version of Fujitsu Global Store. A technology and functional upgrade with many complex and complicated relationships with the supplier.

BOSS - A new application for forecasting staff requirements, scheduling personnel and reporting working time in the stores. The system was based on a Danish Software package, Vagtplan from Prolog.

NordCat, where Leif led a large group of business and technical representatives of the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish Coop organisations. The commission was to evaluate which software was required to support a future Category organisation within Coop Norden.
