DLF
is a trade association, with members from almost every company which supplies
Swedish retailers with food, beverages, household products and all other fast
moving consumer products - in all over 200 member companies. In
the late 80’s, the organisation had started to expand, with new
businesses like Delfi Marknadsservice (marketing surveys and services) and
Nordisk Kuponginlösen (coupons and consumer promotions) started, and
trade issues became more complex. IT Management had until then been a part-time
job, however the requirements were becoming ever more specialized and time
consuming. When
its board decided to move to a new accounting system and also upgrade the IBM
S/36, DLF asked Leif to be a temporary solution to their resourcing problem. The
software package evaluation was successful, with the hardware upgrade leading to
the deployment of a brand new computer, "Silver Lake", later to be
better known as the AS/400. The
last part of Leif’s commission, to employ his successor, was also successfully
undertaken, as he is still employed by DLF!
